Professional and Scientific Training for the Development of Cultural Tourism

​

Overview

 

This is a 3-year training program aiming at providing professional and scientific skills in the field of archeological heritage to 45 young Kenyan scholars purposely for the creation of operators for the development of cultural tourism, while supporting economic development. A specific focus on rock art and Holocene history will boost professional skills of a selected number of early career scholars in the management of rich and diversified heritage of Kenya.

 

Activities

  • Organization of trainings by the National Museums of Kenya (NMK).

  • Every year one-month training by professors from La Sapienza University (Rome - Italy): 15 days in the field in the Turkana region and 15 days of theoretical lessons in Nairobi.

  • Final workshop.

  • Production of a publication on the partnership between AICS, La Sapienza University and NMK (end of first year).

  • Production of a cultural and tourist map of the region (end of second year).

  • Production of a final report on the activities carried out by the NMK.
